Do you have a food allergy?
Food allergy or intolerance exists when there is an inappropriate adverse reaction to the ingestion of food, or irritation from an external source, such as handling food.
A food allergy reaction may be instant or might be delayed by as much as 3 days.
Common signs and symptoms of food allergies are:
- dark circles and puffiness under the eyes
- diarrhoea or constipation
- bloating and flatulence
- eczema, dermatitis or hive
- irritability, anxiety
- inability to loose weight
- and many more.
Your reaction could be caused by a food protein, starch or other food component, or by a contaminant found in food, such as colourings or preservatives.
Your immune system might or might not respond to the reaction.
Increase and possible causes of food allergy
The incidence of food allergy or intolerance has increased at an alarming rate in the last 30 years. Possible causes include increased stresses on our immune systems, earlier weaning and earlier introduction of solid foods to infants, genetic manipulation of plants and increased ingestion of fewer foods.
If you or your child suffers from a suspected food allergy, the hair allergy test is the safe, easy, affordable way to diagnose the problem.
